Kashan is a city between Tehran and Isfahan.It was renamed to the Middle Ages for its pottery workshops. Indeed, the name of the city has its roots in the name for the ceramic tile in Persian that is called Kashi.

Kashan is the first of the large oases that lie along the road between Kerman and Qom, in the deserts of central Iran. Its charm is thus mainly due to the contrast between the vastness of the deserts and the greenery of the well-maintained oasis.
